Anyone else in need of more space? We were, and after trying to work with our bedroom closet for months, we finally gave up and caved into the idea of a custom closet. While most custom closet builds require you to drill into the wall, we found one that is stand-alone, renter-friendly, and affordable!

Our bathroom was my least favorite place when we first moved in. It has outdated floor tiles, is super narrow, and the towel hangers were boring and basic. When I think of zen, I think of being grounded and calm, so to achieve this feeling we sold all our previous furniture and started brand new. From the floating bed to the nightstands, to the low profile dresser and the DIY piece over our bed, every item in our bedroom now has intention, purpose, and provides a sense of peace. Finding the right desk is like trying to find the perfect shade of beige. There are so many options and it ultimately comes down to what your personal preference is. So after six desks (in the last two years), I finally figured out that the desk of my dreams does not exist — within my budget. Instead of settling for just anything that fits into our home office, I opted to build it instead with Ikea pieces. However, none of the items we used are meant to be used for a desk and that’s what I love most about our DIY desk for two.

We absolutely love our living room and it’s the best place to unwind at the end of each day for us. I also try to start my days here with a cup of coffee, listening to the birds outside (yes, we have birds chirping every day), and the sunlight seeps through our window beautiful in the early mornings. Needless to say, this room sparks so much joy and we hope it does for all our futures guests too.

It’s going on three months in our new apartment and we’ve changed the layout of our home office about 3 times, hah. While we are still playing around with the overall look, there is one thing that I’m completely satisfied with and that’s my gallery wall.

Anyone else spending more time cleaning and organizing their home lately? I don’t know what it is, but an organized home makes me so happy. In the last two months, I’ve been going through our apartment and decluttering everything — the cabinets, the linen closet, our closet, our dressers, and even under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Throughout the process, I found myself needing an organization system of some sort. I did some research, compared different websites, and tested out everything I got to ensure that the quality was worth the price.

Scents can wake you up, inspire you, make you sleepy, or ease your nerves. With so many of them, it can be overwhelming to figure out which one works best for you. My preference in scents has certainly changed throughout the years and what I love now will probably change in a year or so too. With this refresh, I wanted to invest on a good quality bed frame and mattress. My previous frames were from Ikea. No hate on Ikea, I still shop there but we all know their furniture can break pretty easily (hah). After 3 months of searching, I ended up purchasing this platform bed frame from West Elm, upgrading myself from a full size to queen.

The first impression most people make about your place begins with your entryway. For my studio apartment, it is literally the first thing you see when you open the door, so I have to make sure it sets the tone and vibe for the remainder of my apartment.

After six years of living in my 600 sq. ft. studio apartment, I am finally refreshing this space and am focused on creating a place that I truly love. I’ll be spending the majority of this year at home, so it’s worth the effort to invest in pieces that are comfy & cozy, won’t break easily and pieces I can actually move with me in the future.
