I consider Burke Williams one of the OG’s when it comes to day spas. I remember seeing a Burke Williams Day Spa when I was in high school and dreamt about the day I could spend a relaxing afternoon there. Fast forward to 12 years later, yeah it took me awhile, but I finally got my wish and the best part is that I got to share this experience with KSOLE.Read More
Had a long day at the office? Exhausted from working on back to back on projects, been on trips for so long that you come back completely burnt out? Need a day just to yourself and your significant other? Sure, you can go to dinner and/or head to the beach for some fun in the sun, but if you're really looking for the best way to unwind, I suggest spending the day at the Montage in Beverly Hills.Read More
She slammed her laptop shut, stuffed it in her bag, and screamed, "See you Monday!"
It had been one hell of a week and she was ready to relax, unwind, and just forget about all the stress she had endured these last few days.
She grabbed her cell phone from her pocket and sent over a text to her friend, "Finally off, let's go!"
The Spa at Shangri-La
The energy changes as soon as you step off the elevator and into Chi, the spa at Shagri-La Vancouver. You start to feel less tense and shortly after filling out a quick survey of what areas you wish to focus on, you're whisked away to your private spa suite.
The luxurious spa room features a tub, sauna room, vanity area, bathroom, and closet to store your belongings. Undress and step into a comfy robe and slippers before you start off with a calming foot wash.
A delicious hot cup of tea is presented to you afterwards and you are then directed to spend about 10 minutes in the sauna room, with a quick shower afterwards before your massage begins. Temperature is up to you when you're in the sauna room, but those 10 minutes in peace is exactly what you need to unwind.
The next hour, you'll most likely fall asleep and that's what is to be expected. You'll wake up, feeling completely relaxed and exceptionally happy.
Now, you're ready to indulge in a tasty brunch at MARKET by Jean-Georges with your bestie!
Treat yourself after that massage to a brunch date with your girlfriend, with a view of the city.
We started off with a cup of coffee, of course, and glasses of water for hydration (totally key after a massage).
The menu had many great options to choose from, but we decided to share a few plates including the avocado toast and sashimi on crispy rice. Our favorite was definitely the sashimi on crispy rice and it was so good, we ordered another round of it.
Overall, we had a great afternoon at Shangri-La but I expected nothing less.
Trilogy Spa | 451 Manhattan Beach Blvd Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Raise your hand if you're in need of a R&R type of day! I actually need another one and hope I can go back to Trilogy soon. Ken and I had the pleasure of visiting Trilogy a few weeks ago, actually as a pre-anniversary kickoff. We hardly get couple's massages, due to scheduling conflicts, so it was definitely a great treat for both of us.
To start off, Trilogy is located in a plaza near Manhattan Beach. Plenty of parking, metered, but didn't take long to find a spot. We were quickly greeted upon entrance by an upbeat team of happy staff members. You certainly feel the love and it's always great to feel so welcomed. We were escorted to our private room and met our massage therapists. By request, we had two female therapists and they were amazing! We had an hour long Swedish massage followed by a relaxing time to ourselves on their balcony area. We were given a private bed, champagne and fruits - yes, we were spoiled but we deserved it ;)
Trilogy is certainly a great local escape with the beach just around the corner and plenty of places to eat (after your treatment). It's perfect for a girls day or if you want to spend time with your boo. They also book private parties so why not start off your birthday with a day at Trilogy? Big thanks to the staff and to Lynn for accommodating us!
Is it only Tuesday? I swear this weekend flew by! From Vegas back to LA within 48 hours, I must say that I am a little tired but have to reenergize myself for this 3-day weekend trip to Ojai. While I get some r&r, here's a recap of my trip to Glen Ivy Spa two weekends ago with LinhWinn.
Glen Ivy is a very popular destination for many when it comes to bridal parties, birthdays, special occasions, and when you need to just get away from it all. LinhWinn and I were in definite need of a girls day out, which didn't consist of partying or requiring us to get dolled up. Instead, I threw on a Kristinit dress, Dynamic Asia hat, sunnies and some mules and headed to Corona.
Once we arrived, we were greeted and took on a quick tour of the facility. I immediately noticed how spacious this place really is! After our tour, we were given a private balcony to relax in for the day and ordered drinks while sunbathing. After an hour or so, we grab lunch from the cafe and proceeded to our individual spa services.
Linh was scheduled for a full body treatment which included a massage and scrub, while I got a facial minus extractions because I'm a big baby and did not want to cry throughout the treatment. Seriously, I have a low tolerance for pain. After an hour, I was fully relaxed and reemerged into the sun after getting a shoulder and arm massage with my facial. I met back up with Linh and we ended up getting in some pool time prior to closing time.
Overall we had a much needed rest day that was better than I expected. I was actually off my phone for a good amount of time, surprisingly - hah. I certainly need more days like this but until then, thank you Glen Ivy for the amazing hospitality!
