We Have Noodles LA's Pop-Up Dinner

We Have Noodles LA

There's just something special about spending an intimate evening with just a handful of people who love food as much as you do. In a cozy setting at the Arts District, I had the pleasure to attend a pop-up dinner hosted by Chef Darren of We Have Noodles LA

Darren and I actually know each other through his mother and I'm all for supporting talented friends, especially when it involves food so how could I resist? This private event was hosted by Feastly and you can find upcoming pop-up dinners by them here. There's a Venice location that just opened, along with this DTLA, and a few in San Francisco. I highly recommend you go!

The evening started with a brief introduction and background from Chef Darren, explaining his inspiration behind the 6-course dinner we were about to eat. The sweet potato tom yum flavored chips were our starters and set the tone for the rest of the meal. Expectations were high after I took my first few bites of those chips, I'm actually craving them now! We moved from chips and dips to duck heart larb, which consisted of confit gizzard, crispy duck skin, and toasted rice powder. If you are weary of gizzards, like I am, you'll be pleasantly surprised. I never had heart before but I'm not opposed to the idea of it anymore.

From there we had the most delicious king crab pasta alla chitarra, a tender braised short rib, and ended with two desserts - pomegranate granita and sweet potato pie. The dinner lasted a total of 2 hours, you bring your own wine/alcoholic beverage of choice, but beer and water was provided. Mixing and mingling over food is probably the best way I could ever spend an evening, and I cannot wait for the next one.

Make sure to sign up for Darren's next one in Venice on Nov 18th! Seats are limited and you don't want to miss it.
