Maru Santa Monica

Happy Thanksgiving! In the spirit of the holiday, I am posting back to back food features. After all, we're going to be stuffing ourselves anyways so why not stare at more food? Hah.

Maru Santa Monica: 12400 Wilshire Blvd #150 Los Angeles, CA 90025

I'm sure that you have heard of the newest and hottest restaurant in Santa Monica and if you haven't, you'll thank me later. Maru is a French and Japanese inspired cuisine where the food tastes just as good as it looks. I was in love with the ambience displayed during our dinner and completely drunk off the liquor. Okay, well I was buzzed but stopped myself from going over board because there was literally a drink pairing with every single course. Oh did I mention we had a 13-course dinner? Yes, 13!

I love it when the chef comes out and explains his concept, the food, and the passion behind it. We were educated on all the drinks we were served, which is great and always well appreciated. The pacing was perfect, leaving us wanting more but giving us enough time to digest between courses. Out of the 13 dishes, my favorites included the scallops, sashimi, shrimp and green beans, and the filet mignon. I barely made it dessert, but I did try them out and loved it. I just wish I wasn't so full so I could have finished it.

Maru is one of those places that you want to go back, bring your friends and family, and genuinely recommend it to people. I urge you to go try it because you will not be disappointed! Thank you so much Maru for having us!
