When you hear people raving about something, whether it is a place or thing, you often end up having high expectations. And more often than not, you end up realizing that it was all hype. So was Hotel Metropole all hype or was it worth the price?

Tucked away in Metropole Market Place is Hotel Metropole, a popular pick amongst tourists and known as Catalina's finest beachfront hotel.

With proximity to a variety of restaurants and shops, it's easy to see why it's an ideal pick. Step into the lobby and you'll notice the gorgeous natural lighting bouncing off the spacious interior. In just 5 minutes, you'll be checked in and escorted to your room. Talk about a piece of cake. The faster I can get into relaxation mode, the better.

Now let's talk about the room because I'm sure that's where you'll be spending most of your time. When you come to Catalina, you're coming for the fun and adventurous activities that are offered, but you're staying in the room after the sun goes down so comfort is key. While we didn't get the oceanfront mini-suites or the super fancy VIP wing, we were placed in a spacious guest room that had a window looking out towards the ocean.

Now there are three things that keep me happy when it comes to the room: the view, the bed, and the bathroom. Hotel Metropole had all three checked and their turndown service every night included delicious chocolate mints on our pillows. I will have to say that there was nothing very distinctive about the room, it was pretty basic, but there is never anything wrong with simplicity. In addition, we had a fireplace that created some cozy vibes in the evening.

Hotel Metropole offers complimentary breakfast each morning that you should definitely take advantage of. They also offer coffee and tea all day.

Overall, we had a relaxing stay and it was the first time I got in eight hours of sleep each night. That's just how comfortable the bed was!

So was it all hype or worth the price? In all honesty, the room we had was nothing special but the other options available here seem worth it. The location is ideal, service is on point, and the view wasn't bad at all.
