The Perfect Travel Duo with Botkier

"Are you ready yet?" he asked as he checked his watch. It was 20 minutes before showtime and he knew they'd hit traffic if they weren't out the door within the next 5 minutes.

"I'm almost done. Just putting on my lashes!" she replied back, frustrated that he was rushing her again.

"There. Finally," she sighed, taking a step back to look at herself in the mirror. She didn't have time to fully dry her hair so instead she did a quick side braid and tucked a flower. She decided to go with an off the shoulder dress to accompany her hairstyle and the pattern of the dress made it perfect for the luau. As for shoes, she chose her supportive go-to pair of flats that she's been relying on the entire trip.

"Come on!" he yelled once again as he held the door open. She quickly grabbed her backpack, stuffed her make-up bag and wallet in, and rushed out the door.

To his surprise, they didn't hit any traffic and were escorted to the front of line, so they got to their seats just in time.

They ordered drinks and munched on taro chips, as they settled in for the show. It was her first luau and their last night on Maui, but despite being such a short trip, they were able to make the most of it.

"Can you put this in your backpack for me please?" he asked, snapping her out of her trance as he handed her his wallet and the keys to their rental car.

She grabbed the items and placed them inside, realizing how roomy her Waverly backpack was. She was able to put a change of clothes and pair of sandals, along with her make-up bag, wallet, Mophie, water bottle, and camera lens earlier during their drive through the Road to Hana. While she had since emptied it out to carry only what she needed for tonight, she was quite amazed at how well the backpack held up the last 4 days of their trip.

Despite having just one toggle closure, this leather backpack certainly kept all their belongings safe and secure. It also held up well with her rough handling, tossing it into the backseat and flinging it around during their hikes. She isn't the most cautious when it comes to her handbags/backpacks, but this one is a survior so far.

The first half of the luau came to an end and it was now time to chow down at the buffet. Tables were called in numerical order and as they got up for their turn, she heard a lady next to them scream "ouch." Afraid she had accidentally smacked her with her backpack, she immediately turned and was relieved to see that she was not the source of the comment. Instead, the woman seemed to be struggling with her heels and by the looks of it, they looked extremely uncomfortable.

"Let's go," he said, grabbing her hand and leading her to the buffet. Someone's hungry, she thought to herself.

Thankfully she had chose to travel with flats and these Maxine leather flats were definitely versatile. From exploring Paia to black sand beach, to the luau, her feet weren't in the least bit of pain. Although she was physically exhausted from the lack of sleep overall.

The luau ended promptly at 10PM and they were given parting gifts, the luau's famous banana bread.

"I'm eating this on the plane," he said, as he snuck in to grab an extra slice.

She laughed and shook her head, gazing up at the stars. You can't see this in LA, that's for sure. It was a lovely night and perfect end to their trip.
