Dear 2017, You Got Some Shoes to Fill

Dear 2017,

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's have a chat.

2017, I have some high expectations for you. Now, I'm not going to play favorites but 2016 was one heck of a year and has taught me some valuable lessons. I took a few risks, I tried and failed at a couple of things, I visited new cities, strengthen friendships, and lost some people along the way. All in all, 2016 allowed me to discover who I really am and 2017, I believe you're going to be the year that will truly take me to the next level.

In 2016, I traveled to over 10 different cities and took my first international trip. In 2017, I plan on traveling to over 20 different cities including a trip to Asia. With 3 trips in January already booked, you're already looking pretty good 2017.

Last year, I crossed off a few things from my bucket list but this year, I plan on facing my fear of heights. Starting with parasailing in Catalina Island this week and riding a hot air balloon in Napa on my birthday (Jan 19th).

This past summer was a reflective one that has allowed me to loosen up and enjoy life a lot more by not taking it so seriously. This entire year is going to be about hard work as usual, but I am making sure I create time for myself and be more adventurous.

With that being said, you might have noticed a shift in focus for By Lisa Linh in the last year. My goal with By Lisa Linh is to inspire and motivate through my own life experiences, from what I've learned growing up to what I learn today. I've changed my "title" from fashion blogger to lifestyle and travel,  as life is a never ending course full of lessons and I often learn the most when I travel. I want to make sure the articles published on By Lisa Linh are written with a purpose and for a cause. They have to be informative in some capacity and leave you thinking, wanting to explore, or wanting to create. I'll be publishing every Monday and Thursday on the blog, so make sure to always check in for the new new.

Finally, in 2016 I wasted a lot of time on things that at the end of the day, didn't matter. I overstressed, over worried, and ultimately drove myself insane. This year, I am promising to relax, plan better, and put down the phone more. That last one is definitely going to be a challenge, but I like a good challenge every now and then.

2016, thank you for the memories. 2017, here's to you - cheers! Happy New Year!

- Lisa Linh
