April Round-Up

We're quickly approaching the summer, which means drinks by the pool and parties with the girls! I'm kicking it off with a trip to Vegas next weekend, but before I start daydreaming, let's review last month's new restaurants and events.

Tullamore x JW Marriott: May Mix-Off

Starting this week, the May Mix-Off is hosting a weekly competition each Wednesday of this month at The Mixing Room. The competition is from 7-9PM and open to the public. Best part? It's free!

I had the privilege of previewing the mixology classes they offer, in which we made cocktails with Tullamore. Now, I'm not a bourbon/whiskey drinker at all. I prefer vodka or tequila with 3/4th cranberry juice or anything that will make it taste fruity. I'm a lightweight, unfortunately or fortunately because I don't have to spend too much on drinks to have fun - hah.

Be sure to check out the May Mix-Off schedule below and join in on the fun!

  • Wednesday, May 11, 7-9 p.m. – Week One Competition
  • Wednesday, May 18, 7-9 p.m. – Week Two Competition
  • Wednesday, May 25, 7-9 p.m. – Week Three Competition / Final Round

Specialty cocktails featuring the lead sponsor William Grant & Sons portfolio of spirits will be
available for purchase throughout May. The Mixing Room is located on the lobby level of the
JW Marriott Los Angles L.A. LIVE. For more information, visit www.lalivemarriott.com or call
213-765-8600.

Same Same Thai

A new Thai place to try and it stays open pretty late! Silver Lake just got a new residence and who doesn't love Thai food?

Same Same Thai had a media tasting event a few weeks ago, in which we were able to stuff our face with their delicious BBQ pork noodles, curry, porky belly, and my favorite - sticky rice with mango! Not picture is their amazing Thai tea, make sure you order that.

Certainly a great place to catch up with friends but beware, parking might suck.

Dirt Dog

When your BFF tags you in a photo of corn, you must go and luckily for me, I was already down the street at The Broad. Just 10 minutes away is Dirt Dog, a place where you're meant to get your hands dirty.

KSOLE and I weren't too hungry, but let's be real, we really came for the corn. We certainly have to go back for their hot dogs. We did, however, also try their fried Oreos - because who can resist those, and their fresh coconut juice.

I absolutely love this place and will be returning soon! Who wants to join?

Avec Nous

Rounding it out with a perfect place for your dinner date. Located in Beverly Hills, Avec Nous is great for brunch and dinner. From the atmosphere to the food, this place is impressive! I loved the ambience of the restaurant and by the way, there is valet.

We had decided to try the fish and the table side service was certainly different from most restaurants. They debone and serve it right in front of you, and our appetite was large, we ordered a side of fries and asparagus to pair with our fish. The staff there is very knowledgeable about their wines, so make sure to try out a drink or two!

Sweeten up your night or shall I say, end it with a sweet note, with their candy cart. Available upon request, tickle your tongue with sweet and sour treats from Sugarfina. My favorite are the sugar lips and champagne gummy bears. Cheers!

Joan's on Third

I'm a little late on trying out Joan's on Third, as every blogger has been there already. However, the drive to Santa Monica isn't fun from SGV so that's my excuse for the delay ;)

After running/walking the Wanderlust x Adidas 5K, Pau and I decided to brunch at Joan's on Third. We left full and with sweets, as their bakery selection is drool worthy.

Love To Go

Last minute insert for Love To Go, which is located in San Gabriel. Actually tried it out last night with my friend, Leslie, and we loved how cute the place is.

It's open 4PM to 1AM, very small but cozy space, and parking is easy. They are known for their 3D latte art, although it is a bit on the pricer side. They do, however, do simple messages and designs for free!

P.S. The marsh-minions are too adorable to eat, but also cost $2.50 a piece.
