Necco | 1929 Westwood Blvd Los Angeles, CA
A chef beloved by Lorde, and is in fact her personal chef, has opened a health conscious Japanese restaurant that is sure to intrigue your tastebuds. It's not just another tapas restaurant nor is it just another Japanese restaurant.
Chef Kenji is a sweet, humble, and creative man who's culinary background has led him to create an unique blend of organic dishes full of flavor. Necco uses varieties of root vegetables in their dishes, such as ginger, lotus root (my favorite), carrot, daiko, and so on. All of which are good for your body!
Jenny, Francis, KSOLE, and I had the pleasure of dining at Necco earlier this week. Needless to say, we had a delightful experience and left completely satisfied. Since it is a tapas based restaurant, we decided to order quite a few items to ensure that all 4 of us were going to be full.
- Poke salad
- Wagyu beef
- Lotus root croquette
- Tofu shumai
- Red snapper carpaccio
- Curry chicken
- Vegan brown rice taco
- Spicy tuna sashimi
- Zuke salmon sashimi
- Stuffed portabello mushroom
- Necco chips
- Seiro mushi
- Tofu okonomiyaki
- Ocean bite
- Dessert sampler
- Green tea ice cream sandwich
**My top picks are those listed in bold :)
Each dish was plated beautifully and sometimes too pretty to want to eat! It was quite refreshing to have a meal that wasn't too heavily fried or cooked. I certainly recommend getting there early in the evenings as they do get pretty crowded, plus the space itself isn't too big.
Thank you Chef Kenji and Necco for having us! We certainly will be back!
