About a week ago, I had the pleasure of dining at Bourbon Steak, amongst a table filled with elite food enthusiasts/writers. Located at the Americana at Brand, this Michael Mina restaurant run by Chef Kyle Johnson, gave us a first hand taste of their new lunch menu.
Starting of with family-style appetizers, the table was filled with cocktails, wine, and light conversations as we did what we do best - eat! Of course, after we took the necessary photos. Of the 7 appetizers we tried, I loved the trio of ceviche and Chinese chicken salad. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try the duck spring rolls or chilled crab soba plates. There weren't enough spring rolls and the soba plate never made it to my end, but they looked delicious.
With all the filling starters, I had a hard time finishing my steak frites. I got half way through it before boxing it up but it was cooked perfectly and the fries were golden, crispy, and tasteful. Needless to say, leftovers were devoured in happiness.
To end the afternoon, a choice of two desserts were given in which I selected the chocolate peanut butter goodness (in the form of a mousse). You know it was amazing because I forgot to take a photo of it - sorry! When something is too good, you can't help but eat right?
Overall, I had a wonderful time and chatted with some great foodies. When you have a table full of passionate people, you don't have a dull moment.
Bourbon Steak released their lunch menu on January 11th and offers a pre-fixe option ($28). Healthy choices with a variety of options, you can't get a greater deal than that!
