I am finally settled in and checked back into reality after New York. While we didn't spend too much time in the hotel room, I do care about 3 things during my hotel stays - the service, the view, and the bed. Empire Hotel in New York is right across from the Lincoln Center and down the street from Central Park. I can't complain about the location, as Starbucks is right around the corner and we all know that I love coffee! Waking up and walking around the corner to get my daily dose was perfect.
Now, I'm going to be very honest, the concierge initially was not the nicest when we checked in. Our towels took over 45 minutes to arrive to us and getting our package at the front desk took a little time. However, the service did improve after I complained to their PR company about it, since they set up the stay. Unfortunate that I had to say something before their attitudes changed towards us.
As for the room itself, the suite we received was very spacious and had a nice view. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The walk-in closet was spacious and fit most of our clothes. Luckily there was ample drawer space available.
The ambience of the hotel was cozy and warm (aside from the service). The view from the pool deck is stunning and I had a great time shooting up there. The pool is quite small though, but we didn't plan on using it anyways.
Please make sure to clarify when booking with Empire, the estimated grand total. Apparently there was a miscommunication and we ended up getting charged more than we expected. Sad to say, but we will not be returning here in the future. This is probably the first hotel I have reviewed and stayed at where I really did not like :(
