25 Things to Do at Home

I’ve been practicing social distancing for a full month now and somehow, I still have my sanity. However, I was also busy packing up for my move and have spent the last week unpacking, organizing, and settling into our new apartment. FYI: moving in the midst of this pandemic isn’t recommended, but we planned this move before the stay at home order was enforced. The only time I’ve gone out was to move from one apartment to another, hah.

Regardless of the move though, I’ve found a few ways to keep myself going so I figure I put a list of things-to-do for anyone who’s in need of new ways to stay entertained. Hope you find this helpful and if so, share it with your friends who may be bored.

  1. Spring Clean your — phone, laptop/desktop, and closets by deleting unused apps, downsizing how many photos you have saved in your albums, and filtering through what pieces you actually wear versus what you can donate. This honestly can take you a few days alone.

  2. Start a puzzle or five. This has been a popular activity amongst many lately.

  3. Play video/phone games. Don’t laugh but I’ve been addicted to Meow Match on my iPhone.

  4. Reorganize your bookshelf, kitchen cabinets, drawers. Throw out anything that you consider to be clutter and maybe update the contact paper in those drawers.

  5. Give your room a refresh with new artwork or bedsheets.

  6. Change up the bathroom by adding in plants, a new mirror, or change the tiles with some peel & stick tiles. For more ideas, check out Lone Fox’s Youtube channel.

  7. Zero out your inbox! Update your subscriptions and unsubscribe from email lists you no longer care for.

  8. Take online courses. There are a ton of free online classes right now and even ones you can finish in a day. I’m taking the science to well-being right now if anyone’s interested, click here.

  9. Deep clean your kitchen and bathroom(s) because when was the last time you did this? Another activity that can take a couple of days to do.

  10. Become a barista because it’s safer to make a latte at home than to go to Starbucks right now. Also, I guarantee you’ll save a lot more money brewing your own coffee from home.

  11. Play with your food. Turn your kitchen into an experimental lab, test new recipes, and create original ones.

  12. Have a dance party. With the number of DJs streaming live on Instagram now, you can easily make your place a club. Just create your own cocktails and dim the lights, and dance around like no one’s watching. Best of all, there’s no cover fee or dress code required.

  13. Catch up on your TV shows or start new series. It’s perfectly OK to just binge-watch. No one is judging you.

  14. Give yourself a spa day. Take that long bath, have some wine and cheese, and don’t forget that face mask.

  15. Get moving and take advantage of all the free fitness classes via IG Live. My favorites are @TheJyim and @Rrayyme’s (which requires no equipment!).

  16. Give yourself a financial review and look at your monthly statement to see where you can save more money. Sometimes we forget about those automatic payments and a lot of the time, we don’t even use those services often enough to justify keeping the memberships. I use Quickbooks (self-employed version) to go over my statements every month as it automatically syncs with my bank accounts and credit cards.

  17. Do your taxes. You have until July but hey, why not get them done now?

  18. Nails need help? Give yourself an at-home mani and pedi.

  19. Get some breathe work in with Andrea from @inbusinessandlife.

  20. Update your skincare routine with my favorite products.

  21. You’re going to be home so you might as well cozy up your place with these 4 essential pieces.

  22. Feng Shui your space with a digital consultation with Vivian Frost. If you’re unfamiliar with Feng Shui, start here.

  23. Have a photoshoot. You don’t need someone to take your photos either. If you have a tripod, use the self-timer feature on your camera and if you don’t have a DSLR, your phone works just fine. Prop it up on some stacked books or a chair. Whatever works and just have fun!

  24. Read some books and/or catch up on podcasts or discover new podcasts. I recommend Almost 30’s podcast.

  25. Last but not least, social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t connect and see your friends. Just do it virtually via Facetime or Zoom.

Stay safe y’all!
