My One Year Hair Care Journey with Hair Food

A year ago today, I decided to focus more on my hair care routine after noticing how dry my scalp was getting and how dull my hair had become over time. After all, hair care is also self-care, and we all know that I am the (self-proclaimed) self-care queen! I was introduced to Hair Food’s collection and did a deep dive into their products, which led me to create a hair care routine that I am now obsessed with.

Hair Food is inspired by clean, simple, kitchen-crafted recipes and is big on nourishment. Hair Food is also always sulfate-free paraben-free, and dye-free.

Before I share my hair care routine, I just want to remind you that everyone’s hair is different and how you choose to take care of your hair from how often you wash it to the type of products you put in it, is completely up to you and I am not here to tell you if it is right or wrong. I am sharing my routine with anyone who may be interested in Hair Food or how I take care of my hair.

Currently, I wash my hair twice a week and have found that this schedule works best for my hair type. While I love all of Hair Food’s shampoo and conditioners, my favorites are definitely the Avocado & Argan Oil Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner, and their Coconut Milk & Chai Spice Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner. Before you ask, the scents on all their products are very light and subtle. I use Hair Food’s Hair Mask once a week, switching between the Avocado & Argan Oil and the Coconut ones.

When it comes to drying my hair, I usually will opt to air dry it. There are times when I’m in a rush and will use my hair dryer, especially since my hair is pretty thick and takes hours to air dry. For those occasions, I’ll use Hair Food’s Coconut & Argan Oil Heat Protectant and will finish my hair off with the Coconut Nourishing Hair Oil (great for flyaways).

Since starting my hair journey with Hair Food a year ago, I’ve noticed a change in how my hair feels whenever I run my hands through it to how it feels overall on my head. My hair is softer and looks healthier, which I’ve gotten compliments on. I get asked about what I’m using now because my hair shines, even days after I wash it and even my fiance notices now. But, I’m not the only one claiming all these benefits because I’ve shared this routine with my sister-in-law and now her co-workers are asking what her secret is too!

Hair Food is great for all hair types and their collection has such great variety that you can easily find a product that will work for you. Hair Food is available in Target, and on Target.com, so be sure to check them out on your next Target run!
