Step off the plane and into a luxurious hotel, right at the airport. The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel is the only soundproof, luxury hotel and spa, located right inside YVR (Vancouver’s International Airport).

After standing in line for 3.5 hours through customs, due to the airport’s computers being down, I was beyond excited to realize that all I had to do was take an elevator upstairs to get to the Fairmont Vancouver Airport hotel. Within 20 minutes, I was checked into my room on the Fairmont Gold level, in a robe and refreshing myself with some snacks and drinks from the exclusive 24-hour lounge. Now, how do I replicate this exact process for every trip? It really is nice to not have to hop into a taxi or Uber and wait to get to your hotel after a flight.

Tip: Day use rooms are also available for guests traveling through Vancouver International Airport.

We only had a night to enjoy this hotel before hopping to the next one, Fairmont Waterfront. However, we made sure to enjoy dinner at Globe, where the lobster is cooked to perfection. Also took advantage of their in-room bath treatment (which consisted of a bath kit to help fight jet lag) and their “Fit on the Fly” program, which delivers Reebok fitness attire including shoes, to your room. I did a quick workout (in room), as I typically bring my own bands and sliders. I wish we had time to a spa treatment as they offer 120 different types of treatments and also specialize in jet lag recovery.

The Fairmont Gold level provides access to a well stocked lounge, which guests on that floor can access all day. Yes, midnight snacks galore! I love that they had a separate check-in from main guests, which was much faster to get through.

As for the room itself, the details fall right into line with most Fairmont hotels. Very modern, chic, and had a great view of the airplanes on the tarmac. Yes, you can sit and watch planes fly in and out. They also provide a telescope in each room, which you can use to watch people load and unload off the plane (LOL). The bathroom was spacious with a shower, tub, and double sinks. Closet was enough for two people and the bed was so comfortable. Not to mention that there is a reading chair and desk area, which was where I was at the end of the night, studying.

Overall, I enjoyed our one night there but keep in mind that it is in the airport. So I honestly don’t see anyone staying beyond two-nights at most. It is a great option to stay when landing, to refresh and relax before heading into the city, and/or when you’re about to fly out so you won’t be late.
