A Light Leak Through This Pause

“Look, you asked life for something, and life delivered it, but you don’t recognize it because the packaging is different than you expected.” (Station 19)

Many of us asked for more time, complained about not having enough time, not being able to spend more time with their S.O., family, friends, kids, etc. and in a way, we got exactly what we wanted it. Obviously not in the way any of us would’ve wished for, but we got the time now so with that being said, what are you doing with it?

It’s time to put away all the excuses of being “too busy” to slow down, to connect/reconnect with others, and to do all the things we “always wanted to”. It is also time for a change, a shift in what we considered our everyday routine, to pivot and to explore a new landscape that can only better us in the long run.

Like a snake sheds their old skin, it is time for us to reevaluate what we can leave behind so that our future can be better. So that we can all be better.

You have time to drop those bad habits, to change the old ones, and to implement new ones. Need to work out? Been wanting to up your fitness routine? You’re in luck because there are so many resources you can utilize now. Learning how to cook, play an instrument, brush up on those Photoshop skills, pick up a new language, the endless possibilities of working on yourself is at an all-time high now.

I joked on Twitter the other day that at the end of this quarantine, we’re all going to come out as chefs, fit and healthy, better dancers, and will no longer take what we have for granted. I really hope we do though.

So in the midst of all of this craziness and chaos, there is a bit of light leaking through this pause.

May you all stay safe and healthy — and stay at home.
