Sunset Villas by Monarch Luxury Villas

The last family trip I had was during my teenage years and I think it was one of those tours from LA to Yosemite, on a bus filled with other families. I didn’t have the best time and I never wanted to go on another trip after that, however with my nephew turning 1, I knew I had to celebrate in a big way. Our family dynamics have shifted after his arrival and we are much closer now than in the last decade, so it was the perfect opportunity to go to one of my favorite cities for the weekend, San Diego. Luckily, I was able to partner up with Monarch Luxury Villas to ensure this family trip would be a success —and it was!

San Diego is my forever go-to for a getaway. It’s easy to get to, beautiful, and slower than LA, which makes it a good place to unwind. I figured it would be great for a family getaway, especially in La Jolla where this beautiful home, Sunset Villa, is located.

If you’re not familiar with Monarch Luxury Villas, it is an unique luxury vacation rental company based in La Jolla, California. All the properties listed are privately owned, hand selected, and beautifully furnished.

Sunset Villa certainly lives up to its name, as the sunsets from this property was one of the best I’ve ever seen in San Diego. The photos we have do not do the sunset justice whatsoever, but trust me when I say that if you want to see a good sunset, I suggest you do it from this house.

This 5-bedroom home includes a pool, living room, den, gorgeous kitchen, laundry room, 4 bathrooms, and a gorgeous stairway. It was beyond perfect and the natural lighting throughout the day made it perfect for photos. We even did a mini photoshoot for my nephew, you can see the photos here.

Check-in was a breeze, as there’s a keyless entry option in which a code is provided to you a couple days prior to arrival. The property is very secure, with security cameras around the property and concierge is just a phone call away.

We made ourselves right at home without any trouble and there was plenty of space for parking (we had 3 cars that fit right in the driveway). This particular location was up in the hills, but it wasn’t too far away from the grocery store, Starbucks, or the beach. However, we spent the majority of the time indoors, enjoying our time with the house. Plus we were exhausted from our trip to the San Diego zoo.

Sunset Villa was the perfect house, a step up from the average rental, clean and luxurious. This was actually my second time working with Monarch Luxury Villas and our first stay was great, but this one was amazing. Every property is different, rooms ranging from 2-6+ bedrooms spread across San Diego. Finding a place is super quick and easy, and you can even read reviews from previous stays to help narrow down your selection. For more information on Sunset Villa, click here!
